Facilities & Boarding

Hours of Operation:

The Red Barn is open to current Red Barn Boarders from 6 am to 8 pm. All other visitors should contact the Red Barn to arrange for a tour.

Stabling:

The Stanford Red Barn has box stalls in the historic Red Barn and the School Barn. Stall sizes, depending on availability, range from approximately 12′ x 12′ for standard stalls to 12′ x 18′ for foaling stalls. The facility also has outdoor stalls with attached paddocks for indoor/outdoor access.

Arenas:

The Red Barn has several riding arenas available for use, including:

  • Show Arena, 120′ x 260′, with textile/sand footing suitable for competition dressage and show jumping
  • Boarder Covered Arena, 110′ x 220′  with lights and textile/sand footing
  • Neukom Family Student Covered Arena, 110′ x 220′  with lights and textile/sand footing
  • Dressage arena
  • Covered lunging arena
  • Covered Eurocisor

Turnout:

Stanford has 20 40′ x 60′ paddocks. Paddocks are based for correct drainage with sand footing and automatic waterers.

Other Amenities:

The Stanford Red Barn also offers men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers, a Clubhouse, grooming stalls, wash racks, and picnic areas.

Student Boarders:

Once a student is accepted to the university, and wishes to bring their horse, they should notify the Red Barn management. When the demand for stalls exceeds our availability, we add students to the waiting list. Criteria for evaluation include confirmed enrollment at Stanford University, participation in Stanford teams and programs, willingness to comply with the “Rules and Regulations” of the Red Barn, and the stable manners of the horse.
